10 Things You Know If You’re A Lipstick Lover

It would be wrong of me to get all lippie with you, without first stopping to recognise how far beauty's ultimate superpower as travelled.

Five thousand years to be exact, but who's counting, I'm just so darn grateful. I'm so glad it's a thing because if it wasn't, then you better believe I would have been the one to invent it!

And there's those, that will never quite grasp it, never quite get why we hold the Lipstick in such high esteem, and that's OK. Everybody's got something; this happens to be ours. Why a girl or a boy chooses to adorn their lips in this way, doesn't require any explanation or whys, but for you, on this one occasion, I will explain.

Honey, Lipstick is so much more than paint, it washes off yes, but while it's on it's an emotion. Visibility and Self-Expression. It's our Heritage, Identity, Power. It's a divine bond that unites us all. Big emphasis on the ALL! I'll explain what I mean by this in a second;

To think it's soul purpose back then was to divide the classes, it's mind-boggling. Red for the hookers and every other colour for the entitled?! It's no longer that "Your upper class", "Or you're a whore!", exclusive members-only club; Out of our love for it, it brings us all together. Guess I never truly comprehended the meaning "Love Conquers All" until now. Why? Well, because the Racists and the bullies partake in this daily ritual also. Say what now?! You got a little bit on your chin; right there, you may want to go wipe that off before you leave the house.

Before you do though, how about this black woman shares with you, something we can at least both agree on because its,

OH SO RELATABLE.

(Even for the Racists & Bullies)

1.

Yes, We need Lipstick like we need water, And yes I probably apply it more times than I drink the stuff, OK! I'm working on it, the drinking part. Cutting down how much I apply and re-apply daily? Nope!

2.

Beauty Commandment No: 2 it's right up there honest - Thou shall never be without thou favourite lip colour or any lip colour. Buy plentiful and often buy, make haste, my child, and go do the necessary always.

3.

Leaving the house without it, no through the day touch-ups?! Let me think... Seriously, the thought of it breaks my heart and makes me twitchy.

4.

Kissing Vs Lipstick and possible outcomes:

Outcome number one - It's not going to happen.

Outcome number two - Hell if you didn't hear me the first time, read my perfectly applied red Lipstick - absolutely not! Hang on, who are we talking about here, Brad Pitt? Well If you think I'm prepared to smear this beautifully laid masterpiece on someone who no longer even knows the first rules of Fight Club, you can think again, "Cho!'

5.

Every place is worthy, Yup, even the Sunday morning run to the local shop and Postman Pat with his black and white cat.

6.

You'd think some genius would event a bottomless storage thingy me bob, something that lasts an eternity and places them in intellectual colour-coded order, without you having to lift a finger. I know it's possible, we went to the moon, didn't we? How hard could it be?

7.

Question: Girl why you got ten colours of the same colour lipstick?

Answer: Classic Yoda response:

"Please bitch, To the hand you talk, because listening I am not."

8.

Topping up the lippie, I'm not that bad, hang on yes, I'm that bad. All-day every day. Listen, anybody that doesn't know me would most likely think that I'm vain as hell! If you're all up in it and dedicated for as long as I've been, you would understand. Lipstick, listen, application, carefully, needs daily dedication. Real lippie addicts know this.

And you guys, I don't even care about what you think, because you're going to judge me despite what I do so I will do it anyways.

9.

Everybody knows Red Lipstick is the stiletto heel of make-up right Doh!

10.

FACT: Make-Up Free, but never without the lipstick Period.

I'll be honest; I take my Lippie, in all the beautiful forms of creation it comes in; I'm not fussy. The colour can be muted or Fierce—matte liquid, or sheer. My gloss, however, has to be fully loaded super shiny glass-like bling, If Cinderella's not bitching, it's not polished enough!

I currently flirt between nudes, gloss or matt. Gloss nudes are my go-to for everyday looks and take up a minimal amount of effort on application and touch-ups. Now Reds I like to wear on special occasions, or if my mood commands it. I'm not particularly eager to wear the colour every day, the more people that see me in it, the less of the impact, and I'm all about that wow factor.

More recently I've been percolating on an idea. I think it's time to switch things up. Yes, I have my faithful's, but I'm also really open to trying out new things, experimenting with different colours and texture. It's the reason I chose to blog about it. It's my beauty passion, obviously, but it's also a personal journey for me, it's an expedition I've been on practically all of my life, but what's a trip without meeting new friends on the way, similar souls and new and beautiful discoveries?

I'm doing this I'm exploring them all and sharing all of my discoveries with you.

I'm calling it my Big Lip Guide (BLG), don't cha know? I'm talking all things Lippie related from Lipcare to "Island Life must-haves". "What's Hot" and affordable to the insanely overpriced (that we all still secretly want to buy btw) and back again.

I'll be speaking my truths in all my reviews because I don't know how else to be. Might I also point out, I'm not going to be straight up gangster, but I will where necessary be offering constructive criticism, so sorry no balling guys, it's not my style. I'm going, to be honest, and dig down deep to help you make that tricky decision easy. Trust me, finding a perfect lip colour and texture, is like a year-long hunt to find that perfect pair of jeans, or that foundation that doesn't quite match, people the struggle is real and it can if you let it end in tears for all those purchases you've made, only to let them enter into "No Lip Land" for REAL.

Now go my child, make haste and dive into my first instalment "In The Gloss."

P.S Let me know your thoughts, questions, ideas. We are all faithful members of this club, a problem shared is a problem solved.
